Power & Gear
Equipment & Obsidian
Why the Special Stat matters more than armor color, how to roll it without wasting Obsidian, and where to get more.
On this page
Early on, higher-color gear (green → blue → purple → orange) looks like the way to more power. That isn't wrong, but as the game goes on the armor's base stats matter less. The Special Stat becomes what counts.
The Special Stat
The Special Stat unlocks at armor level 25 and is raised in the Enhancement menu at the Blacksmith. It shows at the very bottom of the item.
Max Special Stat level by color
| Armor color | Max Special Stat level |
|---|---|
| Blue | 10 |
| Purple | 15 |
| Orange | 20 |
Best stats for each piece
| Piece | Attack build | Defense build |
|---|---|---|
| Belt | Damage increase when attacking | Reduce damage taken when defending |
| Accessories | Damage increase when attacking | Reduce damage taken when defending |
| Boots | Damage taken reduced when attacking | Damage taken reduced when defending |
| Weapon | Damage boost vs. Infantry / Cavalry (same for both) | |
| Helmet | Reduce damage taken from Archers / Mages (same for both) | |
| Chest | Reduce damage taken from Archers / Mages (same for both) | |

Rolling the stat without wasting Obsidian
Same armor type keeps the stat
Once you have the stat you want, only forge it into a higher-level item of the same type (ring to ring). That way you keep the Special Stat.

A different type loses it
Forging into a different type (a ring into a weapon, or anything that isn't a ring) loses the stat, but returns 25 Obsidian.

The gamble method
Crafting across armor types returns your 25 Obsidian, but costs materials. Materials come from killing monsters, so it trades Obsidian for monster hunting.
- Start with a level 25 Blue piece you're not using day to day.
- Gamble (enhance) until you get the stat you want.
- Not the stat you need? Use that piece as the source to craft a different type, for example boots into a belt, and gamble on the belt. Keep rotating through types until you hit the stat.
- Once you have it, promote within the same type to level 30. For example, use level 25 boots with a defense stat as the source for level 30 boots. Try for Purple at this point.
- Once it's Purple, upgrade it to level 35.
- Wear that piece every day, and start gambling on the next one.
Gambling for Purple
The screenshot shows Orange, which isn't worth it, but it shows the percentages and materials. Use 3 Blue and 3 Purple materials, and expect many tries. There's no guarantee: mixing colors is always a gamble.

Obsidian
After Azurite, Obsidian is probably the next resource to plan for. It takes 25 Obsidian to unlock the Special Stat and more for every level after that. Once you have the stat you want, you need even more to level it up.
